1965 MGB Roadster – Right hand Drive

Seller has owned the car since 1980; shipped it to Canada in 1991. It is definitely not as originally supplied from the Manufacturer – many improvements and upgrades – the car runs very well and handles superbly. Read on for details of changes made to the car:-

  • Engine is a 1960cc
    • +.060” over bore engine
    • Engine # 18V584Z – L15692 is 1971 to 1980 motor. 18V = 1800cc, 584Z = Canada USA engine block, L= low compression, 15692 block ID number
    • Larger valve head and Piper 270 mild tune road cam
    • Twin 1.5” SU’s with oversize K&N air filters.
    • Alloy rocker cover
    • Oil breather system
    • Exhaust system is all 2” diameter Stainless steel with a 3-branch tubular header
    • Compression test 155 psi in all 4 cylinders
  • Body work - Chassis plate: GHN 3/61061 – 'New' Heritage body shell from 1990 – always stored inside ever since rebuild; only driven for 9000 miles since restoration.
    • New carpets and wooden rim steering wheel
    • Re-chromed rear bumper
    • Alloy hood/bonnet
    • Paintwork is ok – with the odd scratch visible
    • New soft top roof
    • Front bumper over riders not on car but included
  • Gearbox is a manual 4 synchro with LH overdrive as fitted to 1968 to 1974 era MGBs
  • Brakes overhauled and perform really well with Wilwood brake proportioning valve installed
  • Recently new pads and calipers
  • Brake shoes new
  • Braided flex brake lines
  • Rear suspension:-
    • Frontline developments 5 link coil over set up installed.
  • The electrics have been rewired incorporating readily accessible relays and multiple fusing rather than the original 2.
    • New battery, Neg earth, and Alternator
  • New radiator along with a newish electric fan
  • Tyres almost new - less than 4 years old – Toyo 185/65 by 14” along with new 5.5” by 14” Minilite style wheels.
  • Front suspension:-
  • Roll center corrected with improved camber gain curve via kingpin extension technique.
  • 480lbs/inch springs
  • Steering arms have been re-aligned to minimise bump steer
  • 1 deg neg camber longer lower A arms/ control arms with urethane bushings
  • Rebuilt front dampers by Worldwide Imports in Madison, WI
  • Front Sway bar is 0.75” diameter – upgraded from standard 5/8” bar

  • Forward brace arms for 5 links rear suspension for high powered engine traction enhancement.
  • Spare steering rack and a spare front cross member
  • Front end coil over kit – modified
