2000 Qvale Mangusta
What is it??? This is the first question out of most people’s mouths. Remember the Italian company by the name of Detomaso that made the Pantera, and the Mangusta – this is the last model made by Detomaso which subsequently ended up being badged as a Qvale Mangusta after Detomaso ran short of money and Kjelll Qvale added some funding. The British connection is that the car was later restyled and badged as the 2003 MG X power SV. The cars were Italian built and used the ford cobra 4 cam 4.6 L – 320 hp multivalve V8, with a five speed, and four-wheel Brembo disk Brakes. Performance is fairly brisk with a 5.3 second 0-60 time and a 160 MPH top speed. My dad found this one in southern California and brought it back several years ago. It is a really nice handling car and has 33 thousand original miles. The top is kind of neat - the center section can be removed like a targa top on a Porsche, or the rear window section called the roto top can be electrically lowered so the car is a full convertible. These were an expensive car when new, and very rare with only 284 made - about half that many came to North America. A nice looking, driving and handling car that is sure to appreciate as time goes on. Estate sale reduced to $32,000 from $37,500 in Kelowna. I have lots of pics I can email.
