1975 MGB 50th Anniversary Edition
This '75 MGB MkIV Roadster (a badged 50th Anniversary Edition with BC Collector Status) was purchased in Vancouver in early 1976 by the proverbial ‘little old lady’, and I actually have the original dealer sale documents! It is up for sale because advancing age, deteriorating health and 'she who must be obeyed' dictate so because I also have a ’69 MGB-GT, '54 Daimler and a ’52 TD ‘in restoration’ AND I AM REQUIRED TO 'DOWNSIZE'.
The car was obviously well maintained throughout its life. I bought it quite a few years ago, after it had been ‘sitting in a tent’ for 4 years after the original owner died. I cleaned it, flushed the fuel tank, gave it an oil change and new oil filter, topped up other fluids, tightened the fanbelt, replaced the battery and sparkplugs and it ran. I replaced the cracked windscreen and rear muffler and fitted a new MOSS oil-cooler, new wiper blades and two new MOSS headlight buckets & sealed beams. The twin SU HIF4 carbs have been overhauled. New radio aerial mounted in left front panel. Dash is in good condition. All instruments, gauges, switches are working. Era-correct 1980’s 4-track tape/radio (Blaupunkt). Upholstery (seats, panels and carpeting) in fairly good condition. Original jack & handle.
The car has been completely repainted, and it looks great! All glass and trim is good. There was ‘some rust in the usual places’, so both front fenders have new MOSS repair panels and splash panels. Underside rust spots were treated and cover plates fitted under the floorpan where necessary.
It starts easily (but it does need a tune-up) and it drives perfectly straight on the highway at 100 kph, with no sideways drift when the steering wheel is released, even while braking! Currently fitted with a hardtop.
