Vancouver Coast
About the Branch
The Vancouver Coast Branch services the Lower Mainland of BC from the Sunshine Coast to the US Border, and from Vancouver to Chilliwack.
Branch Events
Regularly occurring events include car runs and visits to local auto-related businesses, member’s garages or other suitable venues. These events serve a promotional function and facilitate the exchange of useful information, technical details and advice. Events also provide an opportunity for members to participate as volunteers in future event planning and organization.
Branch Publication – Roundabout
The Vancouver Coast Branch publishes the Roundabout Newsletter 6 times/year. The newsletter is published on the website and an email is sent to all branch members with a link to the new issue. Members without e-mail access can opt to have a printed copy mailed to them. Back issues are archived online for easy access (click on “Read the Roundabout” button below to access the Roundabout archive page).
Our very first copy of the Roundabout was issued in March 1996!

Branch Coordinators
Name: Gerry Parkinson
Position: Branch Coordinator
Bio: Gerry has been a member of the Vancouver Coast Branch since 1998. He has fulfilled the Branch vice Chair, Chairman and past Chair 6 year role term twice. He has been the Club Secretary, and has been the Club Webmaster since 2011.
Gerry is a Mechanical Engineer and Car Nut. He has a 7 car garage and there are still 2 cars on the driveway (mostly due to 4 sons and one patient wife).
Gerru was born in Vancouver (not Britain) but cheap transport during the UBC years was first a 1967 Triumph Spitfire and then a 1978 MGB, so that is where the British Car interest started.
Gerry currently owns a 1932 Raleigh Light Delivery Van, 1969 MGC GT and 1996 MGF.
Name: Alan Inglis
Position: Past Branch Chairperson
Bio: Alan has been an OECC member since 1996 and even took part in one of the first Mini Montes.
He is interested in all fields of transportation but his knowledge has limited him to little British cars (Midgets and Sprites) and motorcycles.
However, he has now entered a new phase in his life called Lotus!
Name: Bill Nixon
Position: Outreach Coordinator
Bio:
Name: Malcolm Tait
Position: Treasurer
Bio: Shortly after arriving in Vancouver in 1966 we purchased a 1962 Austin Cambridge which we kept for 14 years.
I have been actively involved with The Rover Car Club of Canada since then, currently serving as Membership Secretary and Treasurer.
Name: Leslie Foster
Position: Roundabout Editor
Bio: Les is a founding member of the Vancouver Coast Branch, conceived the Roundabout Newsletter in 1994 and edited it for a number of years. He later edited the OECC Spanner newsletter for several years and has always been a frequent contributor to club publications. He is also a past Vice-Chair of the VCB. Writing has always been one of Les’ passions.
Les and his wife, Calla, are the owners of a fully restored1951 Ford Thames E83W pickup which they completed together after years of preliminary help by generous friends from the VCB. Les’ first ‘car’ was a Thames van and he has been a life-long follower of the marque and continues to be active, internationally, to aid other owners of E83W and related vehicles with advice. He looks forward to receiving our member’s contributions to the Roundabout at oeccroundabout@gmail.com
Name: Allan Goodman
Position: Membership Coordinator/Branch Webmaster
Bio: Al’s interest in British cars only started a few of years ago with the pre-retirement purchase of a 1971 MGB GT. He was looking for a hobby car to keep him busy during retirement and to mainly stay out of his wife’s way. So far, the plan is working.
Name: Lorna Hoare
Position: Events and Meetings Coordinator
Bio: Lorna’s first British car was a 1952 green Ford Prefect which was the family vehicle. They drove it from Vancouver to Saskatoon, which seemed to take years! She learned to drive on a Vauxhall Victor. Lorna and John’s favourite car was a 1961 Aston Martin DB4 which they had in Scotland and took to Australia in 1972. It remains there to this day. They currently enjoy “Poppy” their 1953 MGTD.
Name: Alan Miles
Position: Communications Coordinator
Bio: Alan’s interest lies mainly with cars of the Rootes Group, having owned several Hillmans and Sunbeams over the years. He currently owns a 1962 Sunbeam Rapier Series IIIA Convertible and a 1967 Sunbeam Alpine Series V.
